Know your farmer know your food, eat local, eat real, you’ve heard this story for awhile now. But what about real milk? Raw milk activists have been pushing for years for the right to produce and sell raw milk to the public. The FDA and many public health officials warn that it is an extremely harmful product, particularly for children. Yet others believe that it is a key component of eating a healthy, whole foods diet. Here’s a story that highlights the ongoing struggle to redefine our food system to reflect the health needs of the people and the environment. Raw Milk Revealed in episode #8.

known as the “GABRIELA study,” which onfirmed the dramatic decrease in allergies and asthma in 7000 children who drink raw milk.

    The only person missing from the debate was someone who became ill from raw milk. I would like to mention that since 2005, 116 people have became ill with E.coli 0157:H7 after drinking contaminated raw milk and 27 children, mostly under the age of 10, went on to develop HUS. The milk they drank was intended to be consumed raw; the good type that Mark McAfee refers too.

    For those that don’t know what HUS is, it is a red blood disorder that develops from an E.coli 0157:H7 infection. The red blood cells begin to die and it clogs the filters in the kidneys causing acute kidney failure. In 2012, one little girl’s kidneys did not recover and her mom had to donate one of her kidneys to save her daughters life. Is raw milk really worth this? And Sally Fallon is worried about the suffering of a child with eczema. If the child with eczema removed all processed foods from the diet along with removing all dairy and adding omega 3’s, the eczema would clear up. Raw milk is not the only food that heals. Why take the risk?
